Anetorder To Provide Fulfillment Services For The Library Of America

New Contract Focuses on Automated Sortation of Book Orders

LOUISVILLE, KY., December 9, 2002

 - aNETorder, Inc., a leading fulfillment company, has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with The Library of America (LOA), a nonprofit publisher based in New York City. From its 318,000-square-foot facility in Louisville, Ky., aNETorder will distribute some 250,000 hardcover volumes of classic American literature annually. Full terms of the transaction were not disclosed. “Reducing operating costs is important to any business today, but it’s critical to a nonprofit organization such as The Library of America,” explained Shane Randall, CEO and president of aNETorder. “Our automated sorting and co-mingling capabilities provide LOA with maximum postal discounts, as well as expedited deliveries, to USPS Bulk Mail Centers.” The co-mingling of its clients’ diverse shipments is central to aNETorder’s status as the lowest-cost distributor of bound printed matter in the United States. Another key factor is the company’s automated sortation system, which prints bar-code labels and addresses on as many as 80,000 individual packages each day, including books, magazines, CDs, videotapes and DVDs. Founded in 1979 with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Ford Foundation, The Library of America is an independent, nonprofit publisher dedicated to preserving — and keeping permanently in print — America’s best and most significant writing in handsome, enduring volumes featuring authoritative texts. There are more than 135 volumes in the ongoing series, which Newsweek magazine has called “the most important book-publishing project in the nation’s history.” Roughly half the Library’s sales each year are to the approximately 25,000 mail-order subscribers. “Our subscribers are our most valuable asset,” said David Smith, Library of America’s marketing director. “We feel they are in good hands with aNETorder.” aNETorder delivers turnkey fulfillment and distribution solutions, specializing in Book Clubs, One Shot/Single Sale and Continuity/Series publishing programs. Publishers can select pick & pack, kitting & hand assembly, polybagging or shrink-wrapping services. Additional fulfillment options include automated cartoning, premium insertion and complete returns processing. Inbound and outbound mail is verified and released through an on-site, in-house Post Office, then it is shipped to the domestic Bulk Mail Centers every day. aNETorder’s book operation is centrally situated in Kentucky, which offers reduced individual package shipping costs and a faster time-to-market for all publishers.
